Give Customers Something They Can See

Positioning and context are everything.

The Washington Post once did an experiment. They took a world-class musician – one that would fill concert halls with people paying upwards of $300 per ticket. They placed him in a subway station in Washington D.C.  Hundreds of people passed by while he played violin. Merely a handful stopped to listen.

A customer may notice that their guitar plays better after a setup, but they rarely know how much work went into making that happen.

Your MasterPro Certification and the MasterPro Setup Certificate you hand customers, documents the work performed, identifies the technician and instrument, and provides a QR code for independent verification. But most importantly, lays the context and positioning that puts you above your competitors.

It’s tangible evidence of the professional service your shop delivered — something the customer can keep and refer to long after leaving your shop.

Give Customers Another Reason to Choose Your Shop

Every guitar repair shop claims to do great setups. But how does a customer decide which shop to trust?

When your shop has an authorized MasterPro Guitar Setup™ Certified technician, you have something meaningful to advertise — a professional credential backed by defined procedures, documented standards, and a certification process.

MasterPro certification gives you the opportunity to:

  • Differentiate your shop from competitors offering conventional guitar setups.
  • Advertise your certification on your website, social media, and other marketing materials while your authorization remains active.
  • Build customer confidence by demonstrating your commitment to professional setup standards.
  • Provide verifiable MasterPro Setup Certificates documenting completed work.
  • Strengthen your professional image with a consistent, documented approach to guitar setups.

When a customer is choosing between two repair shops, MasterPro certification could be the reason they choose yours.

All active accounts will be able to print Standard Setup Certificates, but shops must keep a minimum 4.8 Google rating, and have high customer satisfaction to be approved to do MasterPro Guitar Setups.  A MasterPro approval may be revoked at any time at our discretion. This is so customers can have trust in the MasterPro process, and your certification will have real meaning.

Better Setups. Documented Results. More Customer Confidence.

A professional setup should deliver more than a guitar that plays well when it leaves your bench. It should produce results you can measure, document, and explain to your customer.

The MasterPro system helps you:

  • Work consistently — Follow a defined sequence of procedures on every instrument.
  • Verify your results — Measure critical setup points and confirm that adjustments meet established specifications.
  • Document your work — Maintain electronic job records, measurements, and technician notes.
  • Improve efficiency — Reduce unnecessary rework by following a sequence in which each adjustment supports those that follow.
  • Deliver verified results — Complete mandatory next-day quality control before issuing a MasterPro Setup Certificate.

A Permanent Service History

When a guitar returns to your shop months or years later, MasterPro’s electronic records let you review the work previously performed, the technician responsible, and the final setup specifications.

That history provides a valuable reference for future service and helps your shop maintain consistency over time.

From Experience to a Repeatable System

Experience matters. MasterPro builds on that experience by providing a consistent process that can be repeated from one instrument to the next.

Instead of relying solely on a technician’s individual habits, the system establishes defined procedures and measurable results.

It’s a professional standard that can be followed, documented, and verified.

What Makes MasterPro Different?

Four Specialized Tools. One Complete Setup System.

Your initial MasterPro Toolkit includes four tools designed to support the setup process:

  • Fret Renewal Tool (FRT) — Correct qualifying light fret wear, restoring smoother playability and extending useful fret life.

  • Setup Probe — Help identify unwanted fret contact and vibration conditions during evaluation.

  • Relief Gauge — Measure neck relief as part of a consistent setup procedure.

  • Nut Gauge — Measure nut slot height against the system’s established specifications.

More Than Standard Setup Procedures

MasterPro builds on conventional guitar setup work with additional techniques and requirements:

Fret Renewal

Light fret wear can often be corrected as part of the setup rather than left for the customer to discover later.

Advanced Nut Work

Refinement techniques, including properly rounding the back edges of nut slots, help improve tuning stability.

Higher-Level Fret Finishing

Fret polishing and refinement improve playing feel and reduce friction.

System-Level Precision

Measurements and adjustments follow a defined sequence. Each stage is completed and verified before moving forward.

Mandatory Next-Day Quality Control

Every MasterPro Setup requires an overnight hold and a next-day recheck before final completion.

The result is a higher standard of guitar setup, with the work and its results documented.

Built on a Proven Foundation

The MasterPro system is built on the principles taught in the book:

Guitar Setups for Professionals (available on Amazon)

That book established the foundation:

  • A logical sequence of setup procedures
  • A practical, real-world approach for working technicians
  • A focus on consistency over improvisation
  • Explaining to your customer

MasterPro builds on that foundation with specialized tools, documented measurements, next-day quality control, and independently verifiable setup certificates.

MasterPro Guitar Setup Training

The system has grown out of real repair-shop experience — working on customer instruments, developing repeatable procedures, and training guitar technicians to follow the same standards.

MasterPro Guitar Setup Process

Train Technicians. Scale Your Standards.

For shops with multiple technicians, consistency can be a challenge.

One technician does excellent work. Another has a different approach. The result can be inconsistent setup quality and different customer experiences.

The MasterPro system provides:

  • A clear, teachable process that technicians can follow.
  • A shared standard across your repair shop.
  • Defined measurements that help evaluate the work.
  • Electronic documentation that records the procedures performed.
  • A consistent approach to quality control, regardless of which technician performs the setup.

Instead of every technician working exclusively from personal habits and preferences, your shop can establish a common professional standard.

A standard you can teach, measure, and verify.
