MasterPro Guitar Setup Certificate verifying a professionally measured and tested guitar setup

Why Guitar Players Prefer MasterPro Guitar Setups™

Your Guitar Deserves More Than an Ordinary Setup

A properly set up guitar is easier to play, stays in tune better, sounds the way it should, and will probably last much longer.

But not all guitar setups are created equal.

One technician may adjust the neck and string height. Another may check the nut slots, frets, bridge, and intonation. A few work from measurements. Most rely primarily on “eye-balling” and feel.

The result? Two technicians can set up the same guitar and deliver very different results.

MasterPro Guitar Setups™ eliminates much of that inconsistency through a structured process, precise measurements, and documented results.  MasterPro Techs are held to high standards and can lose their certification if those standards do not remain high.

A Better Setup Starts With a Better System

A guitar is a collection of interconnected adjustments. Change the neck relief and you may affect string action. Change the action and other settings may need to be checked again.  That’s why the order in which adjustments are made matters.

Every MasterPro Guitar Setup™ follows a prescribed sequence designed to identify problems, establish the correct measurements, and bring the instrument into proper adjustment.

Each step builds on the work that came before it:

  • Checking the guitar’s hardware and electrical components.
  • Measuring neck relief and string action.
  • Evaluating nut slot height and neck geometry.
  • Inspecting the frets for problems that affect playability.
  • Adjusting pickup height and string intonation.
  • Installing and stabilizing the strings.
  • Performing final measurements and a playing inspection.

The result is a complete, coordinated setup rather than a collection of individual adjustments.

The Difference Is in the Details

A guitar can have comfortable string action and still have problems.

A high fret may cause buzzing or choking. Improperly cut nut slots can affect tuning and playability. Incorrect pickup height can interfere with string vibration or create an uneven response.

Simply lowering the strings or adjusting the truss rod won’t necessarily correct those problems, and can often create new ones.

MasterPro technicians inspect the guitar systematically, identifying conditions that may prevent a successful setup.

If additional repairs are needed, they‘re explained before the work proceeds. Fret leveling, replacement, and other repairs are separate services.

Nothing important should be overlooked simply because it wasn’t part of the customer’s original complaint.

The Results You Can Feel and Hear

What does all this mean when you pick up your guitar?

More comfortable playing. Properly adjusted string height, neck relief, and nut slots make notes and chords easier to fret.

Cleaner notes and better sustain. Fret problems and unwanted string contact are identified rather than ignored.

More accurate intonation. Notes and chords sound more in tune as you move along the fretboard.

Improved tuning stability. Proper string installation and stabilization, along with inspection of the components that affect tuning, help reduce tuning problems.

Greater consistency. Your guitar receives the same disciplined setup process each time, with measurements selected for your instrument and playing preferences.

A MasterPro SetUp™ takes each and every instrument and through a consistent professional method, draws out the best practical performance hiding inside it — every time, without fail, without mystery!

Your Setup Comes With a Certificate

Every completed MasterPro Guitar Setup™ includes a certificate documenting the work performed.

The certificate identifies the guitar, technician, and date of service, along with the results of 15 setup checks.  It also includes technician notes for conditions that deserve your attention.

If a problem remains unresolved or recommended work is declined, the certificate records the exception rather than pretending everything passed.

Each certificate has a unique number and QR code so you can verify its status online.

You’re not simply told that your guitar was set up. You receive a documented, verifiable record of the work and its results.

There’s no universal definition of a “guitar setup”.  Each shop decides for itself what work they’ll do when you pay them for a “setup”.

Would you take your car to a mechanic and say, “Here’s my money – do whatever you want.”?

Of course not.
